2002 STATE RETIREE CHAPTER ORGANIZED IN JAX!

APWU OF FLORIDA STATE RETIREE CHAPTER TO BE ORGANIZED AT JAX SPRING SEMINAR ON FRIDAY, MARCH 15, 2002

All APWU Retirees are invited to a historic meeting of APWU Retirees at the Jacksonville Hilton Hotel, to be held on Friday, March 15, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., to organize an APWU of Florida State Retiree Chapter under the authority given in the National APWU Constitution and By-Laws and by a motion approved by the APWU of Florida Executive Board at the Fall Seminar meeting in Orlando last September, 2001.

A luncheon (Dutch treat) will occur from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the hotel followed by the Organization meeting to be conducted by Jack Gose, APWU of Florida State Retiree Chapter Chairperson. John R. Smith, National APWU Retiree Director, will arrive at the hotel sometime on Friday, March 15, and is scheduled to teach an APWU Retirement issues class from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, March 16, assisted by Jack Gose which will conclude the Spring Seminar. If you want answers to your questions about retirement, you can’t afford to miss this interesting presentation.

Presidents and Officers of all APWU of Florida locals and area locals are invited to urge and encourage the APWU dues paying Retirees residing in their area to attend this important first step to forming a long needed link between the active APWU dues paying members still employed by the U.S. Postal Service and the new generation of thousands of APWU Retiree members living in the State of Florida.

A proposed APWU of Florida State Retiree Chapter Constitution and By-Laws approved by the APWU Retirees in attendance at the Organization meeting and a list of interim Chapter Officers appointed by President Martha Shunn shall be delivered to Director John R. Smith at the conclusion of the Retiree Organization meeting. We can expect that a National APWU Charter for the State Retiree Chapter should be forthcoming by the time of the APWU of Florida State Convention in May to be held in Orlando, Fl.
