Fifty-two retirees attended the Florida State Retiree Meeting today, held in conjunction with the Florida Spring Seminar in Jacksonville, Florida. President of the Florida State Retiree Chapter, Dave Bernstein, introduced Judy Beard, Retirees Director, who explained the importance of retirees staying involved in the union.

Florida State retiree members also discussed current state and federal legislation impacting postal workers and retirees, and made commitments to contacting their congressional representatives on these issues.

A special award honoring Mario Miceli, the former president of the Florida State Retiree Chapter, will be presented to him in person a later time, as he was unable to attend. The large turnout was in great part a result of the efforts of Doris Orr-Richardson, the president of the Northeast Florida Area Local.
