Jack Gose is 77 years young, and he was lucky enough to attend every one of the above nineteen (19) National APWU Conventions as a Suncoast Area Local #1228 elected Delegate or APWU of Florida State elected Delegate. He served as Chairman, Sergeant-at-Arms Committee, and Chief of Security at 13 National Conventions from 1978 thru 2002, appointed by President Emmett Andrews, legendary President Moe Biller, and current President Bill Burrus. All of the elected Delegates appreciate the APWU membership giving each of us a chance to vote and speak on important issues every two years!

Florida Suncoast Retiree Chapter members/family members, excluding Chapter Officers, can win the Face Card $20.00 Cash Door Prize at the regular Chapter meeting on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 in Holiday, Florida. Dominick De Petrillo will be our invited guest speaker from Alzheimer’s Family Organization.

All active and retired members/family guests are invited to all our Chapter meetings. Retiree Chapter members attending their first Chapter meeting shall be awarded a $10.00 Sign In Bonus Cash Prize, limited to the first five (5) to arrive at each meeting, and also shall receive a FREE National APWU Survivors’ Family Booklet worth $3.00.

FLORIDA SUNCOAST RETIREE CHAPTER AND APWU OF FLORIDA STATE RETIREE CHAPTER WELCOME NEWLY FORMED RETIREE CHAPTER OF TAMPA AREA LOCAL, APWU

Congratulations to the Tampa Area Local, APWU # 259 leadership and membership who approved the formation of an Area Local Retiree Chapter for APWU Retirees paying $24.00 year union membership to the National APWU Retirees Dept. in Washington, D.C.

Douglas C. Holbrook, Director, National APWU Retirees Dept., was on hand to answer questions from the Tampa Area Local membership at the Founders Organization Meeting in Tampa, FL on March 22, 2006. Tampa is the 33rd Local Retiree Chapter to apply for a Charter from the National APWU.

Dave Bernstein, Legislative Director, APWU of Florida State Retiree Chapter, was appointed President of the newly created Chapter by Tampa Area Local President Richard Phillips. Director Holbrook took the interim list of Chapter Retiree officers and proposed Chapter Constitution and By-Laws back to Headquarters with him, awaiting approval of a Chapter Charter from Terry R. Stapleton, National APWU Secretary-Treasurer.

The new Chapter Officers will represent all APWU Retiree membership residing in Zip Codes 335 and 336 from Zephyrhills to Ruskin, Florida, and we can look with pride to many years of steady growth and development as other Chapters are created in the State of Florida.
