“Val” Serpico was serving as the President of both Broward County Area Local #1201 Local Retiree Chapter APWU and APWU of Florida State Retiree Chapter, APWU, AFL-CIO. “Val” was a loving friend to everyone he met and his heart was bigger than all the gold in the world. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and a retired U.S. Postal Service Maintenance employee in the Fort Lauderdale Post Office.

Several of Val’s family and friends from all over the country are headed to Fort Lauderdale, FL on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 24-25, 2008 to pay homage to a beloved APWU Retiree Chapter leader who never quit the fight to represent his brothers and sisters. Mario G. Miceli, Vice President, APWU of Florida State Retiree Chapter, is automatically elevated to President of the State Retiree Chapter due to Val Serpico’s death, pursuant to the Florida State Retiree Chapter Constitution and By-Laws.
